MANUALS & TIPS

TIP: SHAVING & SKIN:

Shaver Parts foils & cutters need maybe a little more time for a smooth shave.
It's better to shave after a shower! Occasionally, your skin will be a little red if you
shave too long. Your skin is more sensitive after showering!

Washable shavers only:
You can use a few drops of shaving-gel, a so-called stubble moisturizer crème.
Put a few drops on each shaving-head during shaving for a more smooth shave.
If it feels too dry during shaving after a while, make it wet with a few drops of water
then it will be smoothly again for shaving. After shaving, wash your face with water
to remove the crème.

Use a skin crème after shaving, it gives your chafing skin
a nice feeling if you have shaved too long. Use a crème, for instance a Revitalizing
Moisturizer crème or an Active Energy crème. Your skin feels much better.
After using such crème, you can/may use an after-shave lotion.

NOTE:
Your skin needs habituation of 2–4 weeks, if you change from shaving method,
means if you use Shaver-Parts shaving-heads for the first time.

Since the crème-cartridge HQ170 Shaving Lotion and HQ171 Shaving Gel are no longer
available, you can solve this with a Stubble Moisturizer crème.

Add a few drops on each shaving-head.

TIP: CLEANING:

Washable Shavers:
You may clean your shaver under a warm water-tap.
Such shavers always have a power-plug or adapter.
water tap symbolThis symbol you will sometimes find on your shaver.

After drying the foils & cutters, use a drop of special shaver-oil or common oil on each foil,
for instance, sewing-machine oil, it protects the cutters & foils and reduces noise. With a drop
of oil, the life-time will be much better. After adding a few drops of oil, let run the shaver and
clean the heads with a tissue.
NOTE: Shaver-Parts foils and cutters are suitable for cleaning under the tap.

Not washable, dry Shavers (mostly old shaver models), they have a main-cord:
non watertap symbol BW

This symbol you can possibly find on your shaver, but not on older models!

Do not clean dry Shaver under the water-tap. What you can do: remove the shaving-unit from shaver,
then you may clean the frame with foils & cutters (from Shaver-Parts) under the water-tap.
The hair chamber from the shaver, you must clean with the brush added with your shaver.
After cleaning and drying the foils & cutters, you can replace them into the shaving-unit.
Place the shaving unit on your shaver again.
Use also a drop of oil on the foils & cutters as described above.

Important to know:
Each foil & cutter set are produced and tuned on each other.
So, don't mix Shaver Parts foils and cutters, this reduces the shaving performance.
Be carefully during cleaning the foils and cutters.

IMPORTANT:
Please check your shaver's manual and the following information before installing your new shaver heads.

For your information,
Some Philips shaving heads HQ6, HQ8 (HQ177) and HQ9 have so-called “wings”, which means that the shaving heads can only be
positioned in a certain way. You cannot install such shaving heads incorrectly.

NOTE
Some alternative shaving heads such as HQ8 & HQ177 (item B-N2) do not have “wings”, so certain HQ8 models require the heads to be
rotated a bit during placement to ensure proper positioning; otherwise the heads will get caught and not be able to move smoothly.

Cleaning the shaving head:
Clean the shaving head holder thoroughly under warm water with a brush. After cleaning, you can insert
the 3 new shaving heads. Don't forget to attach the retaining (locking) plate.

Additional information about replacing the shaver heads in your shaver:
Some models for HQ8 require extra attention because the shaver heads do not move smoothly if not proper placed.
Models from the HQ88xx series certainly need your attention, but maybe some other models too, but currently we don't know for sure which types of models.
Possible other series are: HQ71xx, HQ72xx, HQ73xx, HQ8445, PT730, PT860, PT870, AT750.

Standard shaver head replacement general information:
If you want to replace the shaving heads, you must open the shaving head bracket by pressing the release button.
Once opened, you need to remove the retaining-plate. Turn the middle knob to the left so that you can remove
the retaining-plate. It is also possible to completely remove the entire shaver head unit after opening the shaver,
which makes it easier to replace the shaving heads. You can now remove the shaving heads.
On older models, it is normal to remove the shaver head holder(unit) completely, they do not have a hinge (flip-top).

Below are some examples of different retaining plates. All these retaining plates look almost the same.
Turn the middle knob to the left to unlock and remove the retaining-plate by moving it up.
Now you can remove the old shaving heads and insert the new ones.
